Termites and moisture around Wyndham Vale homes
Why a timber pest inspection spends so much time outside, looking at water.
In short: Termites need moisture. Remove it and the risk falls.
What termites want
Moisture, shelter and timber. A house that keeps its walls dry and its timber off the ground is much less attractive.
Common conditions
Weep holes buried by garden beds, condensate lines dripping against walls, downpipes spilling onto soil and mulch piled against brickwork.
Old damage
Finding old termite damage does not mean termites are still there, but it does mean they have been. The report records it and the conditions that may have led to it.
What the inspection covers
AS 4349.3 is a visual inspection of accessible areas. It reports evidence and risk on the day, with a moisture meter and thermal camera where useful.
After the report
Fix the conducive conditions first. If activity is found, a licensed pest manager advises on treatment.
